\nFilm can be an extrem ely useful source for exploring many issues facing China today: environmen tal concerns\, migrant labor\, urban demolition/urban construction\, China ’s changing rural landscape\, the generation gap\, etc. During this works hop\, participants will discuss strategies to teach their students about c ontemporary China through documentaries.
\nPrerequisite :
\nParticipants will be asked to watch one of three p re-selected documentaries PRIOR to the workshop. During the workshop tea chers will discuss the documentary they watched in small groups and formu late plans on how to use the documentary in their classroom. Documentary film information will be shared during registration.
\nNote:
\nCLTA-WA is dedicated to providing a fully enga ged workshop in small size. If the morning session reaches full capacity\, you will be able to attend the afternoon session from 1-3pm PDT.
